I never snorkelled, scuba dived nor done any water sports before this and I have motion sickness, sea sickness and fear of water. I arrived to Koh Tao on a ferry from Chumphon without any reservations. I found the Big Blue truck and it took me straight to the resort no hassles at all. The staff at the reception were extremely friendly, I was briefed and explained in detail about the course and was asked to fill in the forms. I enrolled for the Open Water course along with accommodation in the dorm. The evening started off with an orientation class followed by 1 day introduction to the gear in swimming pool and 2 days diving at the sea. Our instructor Tristan helped me greatly in getting comfortable with water, gear, techniques, a lot of doubts and above all gave me a lot of confidence and strength. There were at least a couple of times underwater I was giving up due an ear pain, some kind of fear of water and terrible sea sickness but he helped me get past them. After completing the course I did a few fun dives and I started enjoying it more. Then, I signed up for Advanced Open Water and I was lucky to have the same instructor. I had amazing fun learning more techniques, understanding and getting myself accustomed to diving. I think by then the Scuba bug had bitten me and I was learning something new in every dive. My Dive Masters for fun dives Steven, Seanos and Kristen took attention to detail and showed the wonders of life underwater. I was really enjoying my routine of early morning dives, afternoon dives and chill by the bar and hit the bed early so much that, I extended my stay for another week. Extremely warm, kind- hearted and welcoming people at Big Blue every single person. Instructors, DMT's, DMs, reception staff, restaurant staff and great service. I met some lovely people during my stay at Big Blue and wish to go back and do my Dive Master there. Diving at Big Blue Koh Tao has been one of the best experiences of my life.
Just a few things I noticed which I wasn't too happy about was, the first day at the swimming pool. The pool was very dirty since there were too many in the pool. May be, it would have been better if we practiced our techniques in shallow water at the beach.
The housekeeping for the dorms could do a better job of cleaning the rooms and bathrooms every day.
Apart from that, I'm very happy. I thank Big Blue Koh Tao for such an amazing time. :)
