Amazing experience gaining SSI

Brilliant time, very professional but very fun also. Ant the instructor was great and Saul was brilliant DM, both a lot of fun and great advice for future dives that we are now putting into practice. Defiantly would recommend, already have and they have since also gone to big blue to get there SSI also.

Thanks.

Big blue truly has something to offer for everyone. My brother and I came planning on staying a few days and I ended up staying 10! He completed his open water course with instructor Iain who definitely lives up to his surname. I got amongst the fun dives alongside a range of experienced dive masters who all had something different to offer. Whether your into pumped up adventure dives searching for the big stuff (btw whale shark 7 times! Thanks to expert DM Steven!) or you prefer just cruising through the stunning coral hunting for that cute little juvenile harliquin sweet lips. Big blue tailors your experiences so you make the most of your time and money which are always so precious during travelling. Unlike other companies on Ko Tao, the big blue dive boats access all of the amazing dive sites the island has to offer. Some are quite far away so often on an afternoon dive big blue boats will be the only one at a dive site leaving you and your group to explore without someone clambering over your head with a giant camera. If your not having the time of your life at big blue somethings going wrong, as long as you let someone know they will sort you out immediately qnd go out of their way to fix it.

A couple of stand out staff of course need to be mentioned who contributed to my five star experience here. Dive master Nick T assists divers of all levels with an outgoing attitude and helps you to feel at ease. Boat master and DM Darren knows that place inside and out and ensures everything on the dive trips run smoothly. DM Luke and his ipad have extensive knowledge of the marine life and can identify any queries. Instructor Chris Cherry is a honey creating a relaxed environment essential for diving.

I will definitely be heading back to this amazing place in the near future and recommend that anyone visiting Thailand who is diver or would like to give it a go simply must, call into Big Blue!

Worst Accomodation ever

Diving was quite ok. Good equipment, friendly instructors and very well organized.

The Accomodation where I lived in was horrible. No AC and it smelled like shit all night long. It felt as if I sleep in a toilet.

Besides that fact the room is very small and the mosquitos are killing you in the night.

All in all the diving is cool, big blue diving as an accomodation shit.

Cheers

Hey Roger, Glad you enjoyed the diving but sorry to read you had such a low opinion of our accommodation. Did you let anyone in reception know you were unhappy with your room? Would you mind letting me know which room you stayed in.
Like I said Roger sorry you didnt enjoy your stay with us but glad you enjoyed the diving.
Yours,
Jim Donaldson, General Manager

One of a kind staff

The staff at Big Blue definitely made my Open Water course much better than I could've imagined. Each one of them is so knowledgable and so much fun. I was lucky enough to meet most of them, but you won't be disappointed with either one as your instructor. I even went on to do the Advanced course, which I wasn't planning on at all, because I had such a great time in the Open Water course. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is only because of the free accommodation with the course, it's free for a reason. Do yourself a favour and pay the extra money for a room. That being said, the accommodation has nothing to do with the diving at Big Blue which is the reason why you'd be there in the first place. Eventually I want to do my Divemasters and there's no other place I will do it other than Big Blue!!

Pretty splendid

Been diving around the world and nothing was as amazing to experience than the reefs and pinnacles, rocks and swim throughs of Koh Tao. Not only were the dives magical but the crew like Luke Murphy, Darren Milsom, James Emery, and Megan Mitchell had to be the funniest and most talented group of well trained and experienced dive masters and instructors around. The water will hold new adventures with each dive- but, these cheerful and knowledgable folk really take it to the next level of education and explanation of the sea world that surrounds you whether it be the usual suspects of marine fauna or a once in a lifetime whale shark. From dive shop to restaurant to lodging and boats theres a reason Big Blue is one of the larger franchises on the island, it's success is to it's primo workers that just make you stoked to return.

Great experience

Spent two weeks fun diving with BB. It was an amazing experience with knowledgeable and friendly staff. They were all experienced and had extensive knowledge of all surrounding dive sites. As I dived with them for a while I was also able to request specific dive sites. The accommodation was provided with the fun dives but I upgraded to have my own room. The room itself was basic but comfortable, very good value for the island.

Disappointing experience

We did a discover scuba diving dive with Big Blue Diving.

The only reason we chose this company was that it was recommended by trip advisor.

Excluding Natalie, staff had a condescending attitude towards beginners and snorkeling enthusiasts. Opening lecture only contributed to raising anxiety levels.

The worst aspect was that we were taken out even though sea conditions were extremely bad. It is not too much to expect them to tell you there is a storm right now, so maybe you should consider waiting a few days for your first dive ever.

The training part was NOT done in a swimming pool as with other places, but instead we were forced to swim 0.5km of high sea waters from the ship to the shore to do our basic training in shallow, sand filled water, so much so that we could not see our instructor while she explained what to do. For this reason my girlfriend panicked and would not complete the training or the dive.

The only professional person on board is Natalie. She is a good instructor and a nice person but unfortunately, that fact did no prevent us from having a horrible first time experience.

I would never recommend anyone to do a discover scuba diving dive with Big Blue. Wasted money.

Hi Boaz, Sorry you didnt enjoy your diving with us. Not sure its entirely our fault as we cant control the weather & what you booked was a dive in the sea not a dive in the pool. Does sound like you went out on a not so nice day weather wise which obviously didnt help & accounts for the lack of visibility in the shallow beach water but am still glad that you thought Natalie was a good Instructor. I was only in koh Tao for 24 hours but big blue went out of their way to help me get some excellent diving in! They put me straight on a refreshers course and then the next morning squeezed me onto a boat with my own dive master for two of the best dives of my life. Chumpon pinnacle is an amazing site but spending two hours chilling with a whale shark was an absolute highlight. Add into that a great beachside location with a lovely bar for predive breakfast/lunch/dinner and sunset drinks and you have a very happy customer. Accomodation was basic and a bit noisy but if you're not as last minute as me they will help you get something that suits.

Open Water Diving Course

Would recommend diving with big blue to anyone who visits Thailand! Koh Tao is just amazing & big blue really know how to give you the best experience! Me & my friend Molly have hardly dived at all, but we felt so at ease with our instructor Ant 2 guiding us through every the step of the way! He was so helpful & so patient with us all, & made sure we all had a good laugh while completing the course! The equipment & boats were spot on, & everyone was so nice & friendly! The free accommodation was a bonus too! Wish we had time to do our advanced course & will 100% be returning to Koh Tao to dive with big blue in the future! A well deserved 5 stars, as this was an amazing experience.

Great diving, great DMs!

I did over 20 fun dives with Big Blue on my trip to Ko Tao. The dives were great and my DMs were awesome. I was never in a group with over 4 people and we were matched by experience and air consumption. All in all, 20+ great experiences. Recommended! :)

Iain is a champ!

The best part of our trip! Loved being in Koh Tao but the diving was by far the best thing we've done while in Thailand! Iain (our instructor) made everyone feel relaxed an kept the group feeling like we'd done this a thousand times. Can't thank him enough. We're hoping to come back tondo our advanced course on the way back up! Would recommend Big Blue to anyone an thanks again to Iain!
