awesome place to learn diving

i signed in for the open water course, we were 5 persons and our divemaster was alex who had help from dino - which was lucky to have two teacher, both super nice and funny and patient to explain us exactly what to do without freaking out under water. the divespots were awesome and the hostel is cool, too to hang out during the course. i can definately recommend it! (although i can only talk for off-season, i could imagine that due to the fact that its such a big school its a bit to crowdy in high season) Thanks for a great week!

Great dive centre

Great dive centre, both free diving and scuba diving. Very professional but still fun. They took the time to go through fish we were likely to see before the dive which was a really great addition.

Instructors are excellent!

The Open Water is a very quick but personal instructor led course so dont worry too much if you're not 100% confident about the theory, you'll "get it" once you're in the water. Recommend the Advanced as well, but take a bit of time in between to relax if you're feeling tired. I had Ernie for both and he was super patient and lovely, giving you a pat on the back when you needed it and explaining what to improve.

Equipment very well maintained and guys at the shop very helpful in getting you suited snd booted. Dive sites were great and loved the bouyancy park. Watch out for jellies though!

Accommodation was a let down. Wifi wasnt working either. "Upgraded" to a bungalow only to find it infested with bedbugs but this ismanaged by a very rude lady not Big Blue. Unfortunately only other option near by was expensive Coral Grand next door, although very nice.

Food onsite were good although a bit slow to come out when busy. For dinner try going into town, go left up the road opposite the seven eleven and there's some great family run places which serve authentic Pad thai.

Just say yes!

Such an amazing experience which I nearly never gave a chance. Would 100% recommend any of the diving courses at big blue! Staff are spot on, from the office to the diving centre, could not have wished for anything more!

Super experience and feeling when doing the open water diver

The open water diver program is the bomb.
I also really like going into the pool the first day.
To learn about the equipement is necessary and I feel well prepared for future dives!
Oli is the best instructur! Also after having some fun dive guides/ instructors, Oli is still the best! ;)
Maybe see you, Big Blue, again for the advance diving course in few months/ years.

Great place, great people

Alex was amazing as an Instructor! Place is well located, food is really good, whole team at Koh Tao really positive and with good energy. Diving itself - amazing...
Pool session - really helpful!
Dive sites also.

Great choice for beginner divers

I had my open water course at Bigblue and it was a great experience.
The instructors are all well experienced and professional, the first day we didn't leave the swimming pool until when all of us 4 was ok with all the skills we had to learn.
The dives were very nice and I found the overall atmosphere/location/dive spots amazing!
Only bad thing: I have paid about 1500 baht for an HD version of the video and still haven't received it, 1 month after the end of my open water and after many emails sent, that have been left with no reply.
Sadly disappointing. Apart from this I would recommend it!

Awesome place for diving

I took my advanced open water with Big blue and I felt welcome the minute I walked in. Very very friendly staff!
They were very good at guiding you throughout the dive, I felt very safe and in good hands.
The equipment is in good condition and the rooms they offer for free (on diving nights) are very comfortable as well. Fairly big, good beds, clean and nice bathrooms.
All in all a good place to do a dive or take your certificate!

Great Experience

As a first time diver, I would highly recommend this school to others. Very organized program and Neil was an incredible instructor that could make even the most novice divers feel comfortable in the water.

Fun and professional diving school

Big, fun diving school where it is easy to meet people. Groups are a good small size however, and the instructors really know what they're talking about. Really recommend!

stay away from this school

I had a really bad experience with this school. My english level is far from being perfect but is not bad at all. I lived and worked around europe and never had a problem with it. The teacher I had was from england and had a REALLY strong accent, sometimes really hard to understand, more even when he was using plenty of slang all the time. He never made the slightest efort on making himself a little more understable, and not only that, he got angry if I didn't understand him the first time. But this was not the worst part. On our freaking first dive, the very first dive in my life with all that comes along with that, doubts, fears, etc before doing it he asked me to follow some steps to make the buoyancy test, so we were already on the water with all the equipment. I made something wrong, not in the order he expected and started shouting at me really angry 'what are you doing? what the hell are you doing? did I ask you to do that?' making me to feel really bad and stressed, just before going on my very first dive. Its funny because in the book they gave us to study it says really clear to absolute never do something like that, apart from the common sense of course.
ps. in their page they say that you get a free t-shirt with their courses but when I asked for mine they said that they dont do it anymore

Great school, even better staff And The best momories

My highlight in Thailand ! The week I spent in big blue ! The staff is great fun and allways funny and in for a joke. The time really flys during your training . Thanks to Ant ( the Welsh one ) I had one of the best experiences so far on my world trip. And I even consider doing my dive master training over there next year.

Thanks you big blue for the great time ✌️
