I did my PADI Open Water certification there (3 days) and the reason for choosing DJL was a recommendation from a friend. Unfortunatelly I can't recommend them to others at all.
I was there at the end of last November and since it was the low season, I was the only student and ended up having private classes. They signed me up with a freelance instructor, which was good with the technicalities, but quite unfriendly, to say the least.
Besides the not so good experience with the instructor I had a couple of other issues:
1. I had money stolen from my wallet which I left in the classroom while practicing in the swimming pool. It was a small amount (360 BHT, which is enough for two meals there), so I didn't call the police or anything. I just notified the school, which, well... didn't do much about it other than "promising to investigate".
2. They promised I would be registered in PADI.com in 24h or so after the end of the course, but it took almost 20 days for it to happen. And that was after me contacting the school twice to request it.
Finally, regarding the equipment, it was "OK" for my (low) expectations. DJL is not the most expensive school there (but they're not the cheapest either). I really missed a depth gauge and my wetsuit had a big extra hole in it, but like I said, I had low expectations anyway.
After this bad experience, I rushed to a different school for two extra dives, now as a certified OW diver. I was relieved to learn there are much better schools there and had two great dives with others before heading home.
