I still have a huge smile on my face!

This workshop with Dive4photos was the trip of a lifetime! I've been an underwater

"picture taker" for 20 years, starting with a sea and sea MX10 film camera, and gradually moving up to digital point and shoots. I have a pile of books on underwater photo by my bedside that I always review before each trip. It has never quite sunk in.

I went to this workshop with Alex Tryrrell and Mike Bartick with the goal of finally feeling like I was a photographer, not just a picture taker. I bought a new better camera, and wanted to have a sense that my photos were more a result of skill than luck.

The workshop was incredible. It was small and the group spent meals and relaxing time together while not diving. Every morning we had a photo review where Alex and Mike would review photos from the day before. Included in the review were positive aspects of each picture and suggestions on how to improve. Photo reviews were always done in a supportive and encouraging manner. Each day we had a presentation on composition, animal behavior, or ways to improve our photos. We also spent a little time learning some Lghtroom basics to edit our photos.

Alex was always around and always delighted to answer questions and make suggestions. He was also able to recognize an error in the new camera manual and get my camera to work correctly. He is a great teacher and made confusing concepts (like f stops) easier to understand. He is passionate about the ocean and protecting it's inhabitants.

My photo abilities improved dramatically on this trip. Between my new knowledge and the new camera, I'm ecstatic about so many of my pictures. Pictures I never dreamed I could've gotten have filled up my computer. I look at them everyday and continue to say WOW!!! I really took that picture????

I'm excited about taking future workshops with Dive4photos. I would totally recommend Divd4photos to anyone , of any level, interested in improving.

Custom Photo Workshop

I completed two separate UW Photo Courses with Alex. The first one covered wide angle close-ups and Alex's professional (and very friendly) approach and knowledge was amazing! No questions were left unanswered.

I learnt a lot during the course and decided to come back for more, this time with my first macro lens. Before coming to Koh Tao we discussed the course via email and all sessions were customised to suit my needs and time. And again I learnt so much! Alex was extremely helpful all through the course, on land, on the diving boat and underwater.

Alex is a skilful teacher and a great UW guide. He can explain complicated things in a simple way. If I am at Koh Tao again I will definitely book another session with him!

Best Workshop

I did a custom workshop with Alex in July 2013 & it was an incredible experience.

His own photo gallery is as impressive as his knowledge of photography. The customized course enabled him to tailor the course & focus on the areas of my photography which needed it most.

I couldn't recommend a workshop with him enough...! I'm heading back in a few weeks for another customized workshop with him & looking very forward to it. Professional all the way, thanks Alex!

Recommended photography teacher.

I am very happy with Alex's service, from the moment I started enquiring he responded promptly and with a lot of detail which ended up in me flying over to Koh Tao to spend a week under his tutelage. I arrived with a semi dated DSLR setup I had no idea how to use and instantly he had me comfortable with all it's bells and whistles and from the get go he had me taking much better pictures. Alex has an easy going teaching manner and a massive wealth of knowledge that he shares easily in normal jargon. He just seems to know where people are at and where they want to be and he goes to work to make that happen for them.

I would strongly recommend Dive4photos to anyone wanting to improve their underwater photography.
